I AM MAX: A young Sasquatch in search of the meaning of life.
By Mike Davis (Author) Format: Kindle Edition
Max is a Sasquatch’m also known as Sasquatch, Big Foot, The Big Man, Guardian of the Forest or many other such urban legends. Max was separated from his parents when he was five-years old and came into the care of Derek ‘Dak’ Deklan an on-the-lam white-hat mercenary who put a few slugs in Idi Amin’s sweat butt, seeks shelter with his surfing buddy, philosophical surfboard shaper, Medford Haley at a building project in the California desert. See DYING BREED. Brought-up by two First Nations surfers, Max does what he can to assimilate with his human benefactors and protectors and picks up and adapts the rest of their human traits by watching television twenty-four hours a day.
Max is subsequently reunited with his parents in MAX: Hide and Seek Champion of the world as a young teenager. To be with his kind. Which makes the Sasquatch’m community understandably stand-offish and suspicious.
I AM MAX finds a lovesick sixteen year-old Max looking for love in all the wrong places which leads him into a massive subterranean world where the Sasquatch’m is no longer the alpha predator and king of the forest, in search of Gai, a young Sasquatch’m girl he’d sighted across a blueberry patch and who’d dropped a purple glyph mat she’d crafted a keepsake. Here he will have to summons his reputed Sasquatch’m powers of ‘The Way’ – Of which he has yet to experience much less master. The only thing about ‘The Way’ that he understands for sure is that Sasquatch’m do not harm any of his brothers who walk and stand up-right – This is sacrosanct.
Max will come face to face with certain death itself as he falls victim to circumstances and situations that will challenge and defy every belief system of his human mentors; which contrasts his simplistic parents acceptance of what ‘is’.
Again and again Max will retreat to the feet of the Giant Sequoias which are the living repositories of everything that’s ever transpired since the beginnings of time itself because they are the sole living witnesses.
When Max re-emerges from the subterranean realm he is a young man, scarred and hardened by the experience and disillusioned by his fruitless pursuit of the elusive Gai; is immediately thrown into the fray of saving the Grandmother of all Sequoias from illegal loggers.
Here Max will learn to summons his massive Sasquatch’m powers, not the least of which is telepathy, interfering with electrical impulses and shapeshifting to foil the highly organised poachers. Imagine if you can what a brain two to four times the size of the human brain is capable of – Especially if it’s been programmed by a philosophical scholar and professional soldier and the women in their lives.
Will the young Sasquatch’m with all of his powers both human and Sasquatch’m be able to maintain the sacred harmony?
Will Max indeed be the result of everyone and everything that’s ever touched him as his methodical mentor Medford Haley has always stated? Will boy get the girl? Best hit the ‘Buy’ button on Amazon.
